It’s Not the Money, It’s the Principle (Oh, Sure)

I asked for a small pay rise,
They said, ‘Are you trying to be funny?’
I replied, ‘It’s not the principle...
That bothers me. No, it’s the money.’

  1. I'd started on £808 per month (after tax) in 1994 and it hadn't reached £900 a year later. I was getting a bit fed up at being skint what with 3 dependents and myself to house, clothe and feed. Takes violin/onion from pocket.
