My life is one of quiet
contemplation.
Resisting the magnetic pull of
noise,
I sit. No radio. No internet.
No papers or TV. No suit or tie.
No world of work. I look out of
the window.
The sky today is uniformly white
and light, relentless rain is
falling earthwards.
The play of silence in my mind
gives way
to simple thought: an early
morning calm.
The world of words has woken, and
I listen.
